People & Places Photography, Essex

Alongside his commissioned work, Jon shoots an ongoing personal project on the people and places he comes across, at home in Essex and while travelling further afield. Sports clubs in their grounds, market traders at work, communities doing what they do, in the settings that make them what they are.

It's a different discipline to a booked shoot. There's no brief and no posing, just watching for the moment where a person and their surroundings line up into a picture worth keeping.

What's in the collection

Sports clubs and teams photographed in their own environment rather than mid-action: the Essex County Cricket Club squad, Essex Roller Derby. Street and market scenes from London and further afield. Landscapes and travel photography from further afield, including Malta.

The collection grows slowly and isn't tied to any one location or subject. If a place or a group of people makes a picture, it goes in.
